### Embracing the Light: My Journey from Chronic Pain to Healing

Have you ever woken up and everything feels light? Your eyes burst open, and you’re enveloped in this tranquil, soft light that seems to take over your body. You wake up with no pain and feel like you’re in this vivid, peaceful space. For someone who’s used to waking up to pain, confusion, and exhaustion, these moments can be surprising. At first, I didn’t know what to make of it. **What’s happening? Why am I so calm?**

Usually, getting out of bed feels like an obstacle course, wrestling with blankets and sheets, followed by the mental and physical triathlon of taking a shower. But on these rare mornings, I felt lighter, calmer, and everything around me seemed soothing. At first, I worried—*Is something wrong?*—but not in the usual panicked way. I was just trying to understand what was happening to me. Yet, in the back of my mind, I knew I was simply *enjoying* these painless mornings. I began to embrace the gift of feeling normal for once.

I took it all in. Every breath, every stretch, every crack in my body as it moved without its usual resistance. I savored each meal without the discomfort that typically followed. Slowly, I realized these lighter moments weren’t just flukes. I was starting to feel *better*. The inflammation in my body was subsiding, and mentally, I was ready for change—ready for health.

The real shift came when I started meditating. Meditation became a game changer for me, helping me to train my mind and body to handle the pain, to be more present in the lighter moments, and to push forward through the harder ones. Over time, those isolated moments of lightness turned into full days. My chronic pain wasn’t as intense—on a scale of 1 to 10, it went from a 10 to an 8. That might still seem high to some, but for someone who lives in constant pain, anything below a 10 is a **good day**.

Meditating before bed or as soon as I woke up became a powerful routine. I could feel the difference, both mentally and physically. Of course, I knew that factors like diet, environment, medication, and stress all contributed to my inflammation. But when the light gave me the gift of a free day, I took it.

This is what I’ve learned: When you feel those lighter moments—those moments of calm and relief—it’s an opportunity. It's a chance to start training your brain for positive change, to build on those moments and turn them into something lasting.

**Take the light when it comes, embrace it, and use it to create the change you’ve been waiting for.**
