"The Darkness Lies”

We all believe in the victory over the war that rages within the mind. We tell ourselves we are strong—both in the flesh and in spirit—that we can overcome any challenge, any darkness that tries to take hold of us. It’s a comforting thought, a soothing lie we cling to. To surrender, even momentarily, seems to erase the very foundation of our beliefs. Yet, the truth is far more complex, and far more dangerous. We are not true warriors if we think we can fight this battle alone. In believing we are enough, we become naive to the deeper forces at play.

We invest in the illusion of winning because it gives us comfort. We need to believe that we can overcome our inner battles, that we can silence the demons that whisper in the dark corners of our minds. But comfort is a fleeting thing in the midst of a true war. Comfort is often the enemy itself, distracting us from the real work that needs to be done.

There comes a moment when the realm of darkness creeps into your peripheral vision. It’s subtle at first, a shadow lingering just outside the edge of awareness. But then, in an instant, it shifts. It no longer hides; it no longer waits. Suddenly, you are face-to-face with it. There is an active presence that begins to consume your peace, piece by piece. You can feel it wrapping around you, tightening its grip. It’s cold and sharp, like icy tendrils working their way into your soul.

This presence doesn’t need to shout to make itself known. Its voice is soft, but it cuts deep. Every word it speaks has edges, slicing through your defenses, tearing apart your sense of self. It doesn’t speak in sentences but in insinuations—small, poisonous thoughts that worm their way into your subconscious. "You're not good enough." "You’re failing." "You’ll never win this fight." These aren't just passing thoughts. They stick, they linger, they grow until they become truths you can’t shake.

And so begins the war, not in some grand battle of wills, but in the quiet spaces within your mind. The darkness caresses the subconscious, whispering lies that feel like truths. It doesn’t need to overpower you immediately. It simply plants seeds of doubt, of fear, and lets them grow. These seeds take root, and before you know it, they sprout into a tangled mess of despair, confusion, and self-doubt. You fight against it, but every blow you strike seems to strengthen it. You’re swinging at shadows, and it thrives on your frustration.

This war is more than just a mental battle—it’s spiritual. It’s a clash between light and darkness, good and evil, and you are caught in the middle. The demons you face are not just metaphorical; they are real forces, ones that seek to strip you of your hope, your faith, and your very identity. They don’t want to defeat you in one fell swoop. They want to wear you down, slowly, methodically, until you willingly surrender.

But here’s the harsh truth: to fight this war alone is impossible. The darkness is too vast, too cunning. It knows your weaknesses better than you do. It plays on every insecurity, every fear you’ve ever buried. You think you’re strong enough to withstand it, but that’s where the real deception lies. You can’t do it alone.

True warriors know when to call for reinforcements. True warriors know when to humble themselves and seek help beyond their own strength. This war isn’t won by physical might or sheer willpower. It’s won through surrender—surrender not to the darkness, but to something greater. To God, to grace, to a higher power that can fight the battles you were never meant to face on your own.

The darkness thrives on isolation. It wants you to believe you are alone, that no one understands, that no one can help you. But that’s the greatest lie of all. You are not alone in this fight. The moment you realize that, the moment you stop relying on your own strength, the war begins to shift.

This war is not fought with weapons or fists, but with faith, with surrender, and with the truth that you are not meant to bear this burden alone. Darkness will always try to find a way in, but it is not invincible. It’s a deception, a trick of the mind and spirit, and once you see through it, once you call on something greater than yourself, its power begins to wane.

The demons may be strong, but they are not unbeatable. The real battle is learning when to fight and when to lay down your arms, to let go of the illusion of control. Only then can you find the peace you’re searching for. Only then can you win the war within.
