Gaining Distance

Stepping back wasn’t easy. The pull to stay, to fix, to make sense of the chaos, was strong. But when you’re too close to something, it’s hard to see it for what it truly is. Everything feels immediate, overwhelming, and tangled. So, you step away—not to abandon, but to breathe.

From a distance, you see it differently. The distorted perspective you once clung to starts to unravel. The cracks that seemed so small up close now reveal themselves as fractures, spreading wider than you ever imagined. The delicate threads holding everything together were straining under the weight of battles no one talked about.

You realize how much pain was hidden beneath the surface—yours and theirs. Everyone was fighting battles you couldn’t see; battles they didn’t have the words to share. And in your closeness, you missed the signs, blinded by your own struggle to stay afloat.

The distance gives you clarity. You see how fragile everything was and how, in trying to hold it together, you lost sight of yourself. The stepping away becomes a gift—a space to reflect, to understand, and to forgive.

You’re not walking away from the past but toward a new perspective. In the space between what was and what can be, you find healing. Distance isn’t always about separation; sometimes, it’s about finding the strength to return with clearer eyes and a fuller heart.
